What Are The Types Of Nut Allergies

What Are the Types of Nut Allergies?

I was on an airplane one time and just before we took off, a message came over the PA system stating that nuts would not be served on that particular flight. They also asked anybody that happened to have any nuts with them that they did not open them on the airplane because several of the passengers had a problem with nut allergies. At first, I was a little bit irritated by this but that was only because I did not understand exactly how severe a nut allergy reaction could be. As a matter of fact, if somebody would've happened to have opened some nuts on the plane, it could have killed those who had a problem.

I did a little bit of research on the subject and was surprised to find out that nut allergies differed from person to person. I also learned something that was very interesting which I never knew before. A person with a peanut allergy may not have an allergic reaction to tree nuts. The reason why this is the case is because a peanut is not a nut at all. It is actually a legume and tree nuts are dried fruit. These caused reactions to different people because they were actually having a reaction to the protein that is in these nuts and that protein differed in each case.

I was also surprised to find out that there is a difference between having a nut intolerance and a nut allergy. A person with a nut intolerance is going to have very mild symptoms that are associated with eating the nuts. For example, they might have diarrhea or perhaps heartburn but it is never going to be life-threatening. A person who has a nut allergy, on the other hand, can have a reaction that is known as anaphylaxis and it can kill them very quickly.

If you seem to be having a problem whenever you're eating food that contains nuts, make sure that you talk to your doctor about it. They will do a series of tests that will help to determine whether you have a nut allergy or not. Understanding whether you have a problem with this or not is your best line of defense whenever it comes to dealing with the problem. Make sure that your informed about the situation so that you can begin changing your life in order to save it.
